Avelea (Ava) Broadhurst

As a young girl growing up in rural Ontario, Ava spent most of her time wandering through the woods, fishing, catching toads, and building tree forts. Being an artist, Ava’s mother encouraged her daughter’s free spirit and sense of imagination. She often asked Ava to look at her abstract art and describe what she saw, how she felt. Ava had soon made a game out of it, crafting stories about the images she saw around the house, including the flecks in bathroom tiles and countertops.

Ava was always fascinated by the books she found in the family library. She found stories of Croiset the Clairvoyant and Edgar Cayce and the book Beyond the Iron Curtain. Gerard Croiset was a Dutch man who helped police solve murders and find lost children. Edgar Cayce was a type of healer who helped to diagnose people with health problems. Beyond the Iron Curtain spoke of psychic spy experiments taking place in the Soviet Union such as ‘remote viewing’.

It wasn’t until later in life that Ava became aware of her natural psychic abilities. She started exercising her scrying skills, seeing and receiving information from pictures, after meeting another psychic who became her teacher. Ava asked questions, practiced and became more comfortable with her psychic abilities.

There are many ways that psychics do readings. Ava's specialty is scrying. Not only can Ava see images in a teacup, she can see them most anywhere – on a plate of toast crumbs, chopping vegetables in the kitchen, or in a puddle of water. Ava sees scenes of your life played out in the teacup.

Even now, Ava is fascinated with the process of scrying. She has never been able to fully explain why she is able to see images in tea leaves, or why so many of her readings have been accurate. ‘It still amazes me,’ she says.

A good example of scrying would be from the movie Cold Mountain when Nicole Kidman's character leans backwards into a well. She then looks into a mirror to see what images there are in the water. She saw her lost lover in the image.

Ava now lives in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada.
